CONSIDERING THE SO LOVE OF GOD John 3:16, For God SO loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The highly descritive phrase For God SO loved the world means that He so greatly loved, so wonderfully loved, so immeasurably loved, so unendingly loved, and so unconditionally loved this fallen sinful world that He still nevertheless gave His own perfect Son Jesus to die in our place, under our condemnation, with our sins, and for our eternal salvation. Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us! (1 John 3:1). What unfathomable, unconceivable, unspeakable, indescribeable love!! WOW!! Love is both and attribute of God and a description of His being. He alone is the very epitome of divine love and the sole source of all true love. The word love is first found in Genesis 22:2, where God told Abraham to offer up his only son Isaac whom he loved as an offering unto God upon Mount Moriah. All of this merely weakly symbolizes what God would do with His Son Jesus upon that same very spot outside Jerusalem 2,000 years later. The first mention of love in the New Testament is God proclaiming that Jesus is His beloved Son (Matt. 3:17). Family love is usually something people find easy to understand. Loving others who love you in return. But even if this concept of familial love is not very strong or widely prevalent in ones nuclear (central, biological) family, the very longing for love shows we understand what it should be. To take this type love one step further, we consider what it would mean for a parent to allow their child to die for the good of others, stretches the concept of love. But to imagine that a parent would allow their child to die for enemies who mean no good, snaps the very concept of the meaning of the word love. And yet it is that very unselfish, unwarranted, unworthy, unmerited, and unconditional type of love that caused God to send His Son to die for the sin of the whole world. God surely SO loved the world when He did this! THANK YOU LORD!!
