CORD : D for Democracy or Dictatorship? I am still trying to - TopicsExpress

CORD : D for Democracy or Dictatorship? I am still trying to understand why Governor Evans Kidero was heckled by the crowd at Uhuru Park yesterday. I have not heard Kidero denounce CORD Coalition or ODM party in anyway (If you have, alleviate my ignorance on this). Neither has he acted in a way that has breached the laws on Political Parties. The guy is just trying to be smart. He is trying to be the smart CEO he was, albeit now at his capacity as Nairobi County Governor. From my view, Kidero is not a politicking figure and he is shunning the political aspect of being a governor. He is expanding his avenues of delivery. His only crime is that he is working with the government. Really? The last time i checked the full meaning of the acronyms CORD there was something like Democracy at the end. Real democracy as i understand allows differing in opinion. It is not about being a sycophant. It is about doing what is right for the people under your care...the electorate. From what i saw yesterday, democracy in CORD is just but a theoretical aspect. The essence of opposition in a democratic society is not being enemies with the government. It is not about making every member of the opposition have bad blood with the government. Opposition is all about positive criticism and giving credit where it is due. Is CORD doing that? Ask me and i will tell you that the leaders of CORD are protecting their own political ambitions and securing political survival at the expense of their supporters. I know some of you will say that it is not the CORD hierarchy that heckled Kidero but the crowd. But what triggers such behaviour from the supporters? It is the undertones that have been instigated by the same party leaders against the good relations Kidero has with the government. I challenge CORD and its supporters to make democracy a practice rather than a perception in their coalition. Let us realize that this government has a constitutional mandate from the electorate and instead of focusing all energy in creating a disCORD, let us engage the people in Unity, support the government and let politics wait till 2017. Let us selfishly support H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy and the government as a whole rather than frustrating them in order to occasion failure from which you will build your agenda on 2017. I rest my case. Again, no offense or insult meant. And i am not alleging perfection on the part of Jubilee Coalition. Just voicing my opinion. Happy Madaraka Day Fellow Patriots.
