COWANS GAP WINTER/SPRING 2014 PHOTO CONTEST!! We are looking for new photographs to spruce up our park office. If you have something you would like us to consider, here are the guidelines: 1. Photos should be from the winter/spring seasons. 2. Photos must be taken within Cowans Gap State Park. If your picture is determined to be from outside the park, you are subject to disqualification. 3. Photos will be chosen from 3 categories: a. Park Activities – pictures of yourself, family or group enjoying the park or park facilities. Hiking, camping, park programs, picnicking, and fishing are a few ideas. b. Landscapes & Plant life – pictures of the lake, overlook, rock formations, wildflowers, sunsets, trees and forest are a few suggestions. c. Wildlife – pictures of animals, bugs, birds or any other (non-human!) critters going about their daily activities. Please do not disturb wildlife in their natural habitats. 4. Limit to 3 photographs per person per category. 5. Post the photo to Cowans Gap Facebook page in a low resolution format and we will contact the winner for a higher resolution version. Photos will be placed in contest albums by category. Please note when you post which category you would like the picture considered for. 6. Winners will be chosen by park staff, however public opinion will be taken into consideration. Be sure to have your friends like your pictures! 7. Winners will receive a free night of camping at an electric site at Cowans Gap State Park and their photo will be framed and displayed in the park office! Also, winning entries will automatically be entered into Pennsylvania State Parks photo contest for possible publication. Pictures will be accepted until Noon on May 19th. Winners will be announced on May 26th at Noon.
