CP JOSEPH MBU AND HIS FALSE CLAIMS 1. Mbu claimed that there was no information or application to the Police by the Save Rivers Movement for the butchered rally. Evidence: Attached to this post is the request for Police protection sent to the Rivers state Police command and dully received and stamped. 2. Mbu claimed that the Save Rivers Movement did not obtain a Police permit from him before holding the rally Answer: The appeal court has rulled that the constitution guarantees freedom of association and assembly and as such Police permit is null and void and contravenes a section of the Nigerian constitution. This renderd the part of Police act demanding Police permit null and void put together the supremacy of the Nigerian 1999 constitution 3. Mbu claimed that there is ban on political activities untill INEC declares the 2015 campagn open. There is no ban on political activities as there cannot be a ban on political activities in a democracy. What INEC prohibits and brings a time table for is political campaign to political offices which is clearly different from political activities. INEC encourages all political parties to hold political activities like conventions, meetings, and declarations. There is also provision for merger and declaration for or against political parties in Nigeria. In clear terms, there is no ban on political activities by INEC or any other law. Mbu has come out to publicly make the above claims and it is time for him to pay for his ignorance and intentional abuse and disregard to the appeal court rulling and the 1999 Constitytion of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As the Senate committee and the IG of Police investigates the shooting of Sen Abe and the abuse of the right of the members of the Save Rivers Group, it is important that all facts and findings be put into consideration.
