CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami today expressed his deep concern over the freezing of developmental process and the related administrative inertia in the state. While addressing a public rally at Behibagh in South Kashmir, Tarigami said that despite the lapse of two months of the current financial year, the normal developmental works have not been started and there is no movement in the vital sectors of agriculture, horticulture, public works and employment generation projects. He urged the government to take stock of the situation which has emerged due to inclement weather and heavy losses to the farmers and fruit growers. He demanded immediate compensation to the peasant community. The CPI(M) leader once again demanded availability of quality fertilizers and chemicals needed by the farmers and the orchardists. The process of issuing Kisan Credit Cards and advancing of easy loans is very slow and cumbersome; he asserted and asked the government to take immediate measures to speed up the process. Condemning the ongoing civilian killings in the valley, Tarigami demanded thorough investigation of these killings and said that violence in any form is against the people and does not solve any problem but complicates the issue and blocks the process of peace and prosperity, which is the primary concern of the common people. Among others, senior Kissan leaders Abdul Hamid Wani and Mohammd Afzal Parry also addressed the rally.
