CRITTER FRIDAY: Coreopsis Beetle. A Wildflower Center staffer recently noticed these beetles munching on Coreopsis on Austins east side. This looks like an interesting case of a relatively rare insect jumping from a rare native host plant to a host that is now more common, since Coreopsis is readily available in the nursery trade, planted in many gardens, and growing on roadsides across the Southern U.S. They apparently have occasional outbreaks in Texas. Have you seen these beetles on your Coreopsis?
