Dr. SAYED ZIAUDDIN JEDDAH: Skipper Shafeeq and Murtuza of Crown Steel excelled with the bat to win against Pepsi Deccan Knights by 5 wkts with 3 overs to spare, Al Saudi XI was humbled by APF despite a huge score as Dopco Stars beat Usman Gems comfortably by 5 wkts in the Hyundai Naghi sponsored Premier T 20 Tournament here at WPCA. Pepsi Deccan Knights opted to bat first started with confidence but lost wkts at regular intervals to be reeling at 98 for 5 in the 12th over with only Wajid offering resistance to make 57 in 34 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. Later Sohail who made 42 in 32 balls with 6 hits to the fence along with Sajjad who scored 26 in 19 deliveries studded with 3 fours to stitch together 57 runs for the 6th wkt in 28 balls to take the tally to respectable 167 for 6 in allotted 18 overs. Earlier Najeeb made 13 in 7 balls with 3 fours while Mazher scored 8 with one four. Zaheer took 2 for 29 as Abuhuraira had 1-22 and Waqas 1-28. Crown Steel chasing with skipper Shafeeq and Murtuza found them in excellent touch as Shafeeq hammered 7 fours and 3 sixes to compile 59 in 30 balls as his partner Murtuza hit 6 boundaries and a six to stoke 52 in 29 deliveries whereas both of them together added 107 runs in 53 balls for the first wkt to completely dominate the proceedings. Once the partnership was broken Crown Steel lost wkts in a heap but the target was achieved by the 15th over with 5 wkts in hand to get to 168 for 5. Qaiser Iqbal made 13 off 7 with 2 fours, Tasleem 12 off 9 with 2 fours and Waqas remained unbeaten on 11 in 8 balls. Shoaib took 3 wkts for 12 runs while Ather had 2 for 29. Al Saudi XI deciding to bat first after winning the toss against Asian Plastic Factory (APF) lost Nadeem Saad without scoring but Mohammed Ayazuddin Irfan and Javed Iqbal batted sensibly to take the tally to 51 when Mohammed Ayazuddin Irfan returned for a well made 35 off 20 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 4 fours. Javed Iqbal then had prolific Mazhar Abbasi as his partner to add together 58 in 27 balls for the 3rd wkt to acieve 109 when Javed Iqbal was run out for 33 off 22 balls with 3 fours and a six. Mazher Abbasi continued his stroke play to compile 87 in 39 balls studded with 8 fours and 4 sixes while his partner Moiz Imran stroked unbeaten 44 in 21 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes to stitch together 66 runs in 33 balls for the 5th wkt to get to huge 208 for 4 in allotted 18 overs. Adalat took 2 wkts for 30 runs, Zahir 1-39, Waqas 1-14 and Anis Malik 1-16. Asian Plastic Factory chasing lost two early wkts of hard hitter Khurram Karamat (6) and Anis Malik (0) with just 7 runs on the board requiring 209 to win in 18 overs with the average run rate required almost 112 per over. Abdullah Essa scored 49 runs after facing 20 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes as Waqas Ausaf hit 51 runs in 26 balls studded with 3 sixes and 3 fours to add together 76 runs in 34 balls to get to 83 for 3 in 7 overs still requiring 126 runs in 11 overs. Maqsood contributed 31 in 15 balls with the help of 4 fours and a six to get to 171 in 14 overs requiring 38 runs in 24 balls. Wajahat made 12 in 10 while Adalat hit 8. Abdulqayyum coming at # 8 faced 10 balls to remain unbeaten on 23 studded with 2 sixes and one four and along with Yousef who hit 9 off 9 to get to the wining post of 209 in 17.3 over4s with 3 balls to spare. Nadeem Saad had 2 wkts for 48 while Javed Iqbal took 2 wkts for 49, Amjad 1-10, Adil 1-44 and Mazher 1-39. Usman Gems elected to bat first against Dopco Stars started very well with skipper Hasham Khan who made 36 in 23 balls with 3 fours and a six as he added 61 runs for the first wkt in 40 balls with Azhar who stroked 19 in 21 balls. Later Usman Amjad hit 8 boundaries to compile 45 in 26 balls as he added 62 runs for the 3rd wkt to get to 127 along with Zeeshan Soherwardy who stroked 13 in 13 balls with one four. Zahid Anwer scored 8, Qaim also 8, Adil was 10 not out in 9 balls while Jaffer remained unbeaten on 8 off 6 to get to 165 for 5 in allotted 18 overs. Waheed scalped 3 wkts for 21, Asim 1-17 and Shoaib Ali 1-43. Dopco Stars chasing lost Omer (4) early at 16 but Afaq who opened smashed 5 fours and 2 sixes to plunder 54 runs in 29 balls while one down Aasim slammed 8 fours and a six to achieve 57 runs in 39 balls and both together added 100 runs in 57 balls for the second wkt. Later Shoaib Ali remained unbeaten on 23 in 17 balls with 2 fours, Shahzad made 14 in 6 balls with a four and a six as Ajmal Khan hit one four to score 8 off 4 deliveries to get to the victory post of 167 in 101 balls with 5 wkts to spare. Kashan took 2 wkts for 32, Hasham Khan 2 wkts for 35 and Qaim took 1-23.
