CWA BOARD OF DIRECTORS ENDORSE STATE WATER BOND Recently the board of directors of California Waterfowl Association voted unanimously to support Proposition 1, the “Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014.” Proposition 1 was passed by the Legislature in August and signed by the Governor. It will appear on the statewide general election ballot on November 4, 2014, for approval by the voters. A previous version of the bond was intended to augment the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, which involves building two tunnels under the Delta to bring water to the export pumps. Because of this association, the bond was strongly opposed by Northern California and Delta interests. Proposition 1 was re-written to be “tunnel-neutral” and was passed almost unanimously by the Legislature, including members from the Delta region.
