[Cairo Scholars] Vacancy info@stars‐egypt.org +2 02 2773 6347 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT DIRECTOR OF PSYCHOSOCIAL SERVICES St. Andrew’s Refugee Services (StARS) provides education, psychosocial and legal assistance to refugees and asylum seekers in Cairo. To find out more about our work, please visit our website here. StARS is now recruiting a Director of Psychosocial Services. This position is part of our senior management team and the successful candidate will carry out an important role in the management and direction of our work, while also providing direct client assistance. Working hours: 35 hours/week (Sunday-Thursday), overtime as required Reports to: Executive Director Duration: At least one year Primary duties and responsibilities: • To provide day-to-day and strategic leadership for the psychosocial team. • To recruit, train, supervise and support all paid staff and volunteers doing psychosocial work at StARS, including individual caseworkers, community outreach workers and group facilitators. • To develop and maintain clear, accurate, and comprehensive systems for recording all client contacts, interventions and follow-up. To assist in the preparation of funding proposals and donor reports. • To maintain positive and productive relationships with UNHCR, IOM, NGOs, CBOs and local service providers in the fields of health, mental health, education, training and other areas. • To organize regular team meetings and personal supervision sessions for all members of the psychosocial team, to provide guidance on case management, and to identify and address personnel issues and training needs. • To manage the program budget and spending. • To coordinate as necessary with the StARS legal team on shared casework, joint training opportunities, and other issues of common concern. • To work closely with the StARS management team to ensure high quality programming organization-wide, including in the implementation of monitoring and evaluation efforts and the development and assessment of the strategic plan and policies and procedures. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Master’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience in social work, psychology, international development, social sciences, human rights, or related field. • Fluency in written and oral English, Arabic an asset. • Significant experience in human rights, refugee assistance, asylum seekers and/or migrants rights. Familiarity with Cairo refugee service providers an advantage. • Project/program management experience from planning through evaluation. • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, supervise, guide, support and discipline team members, and ability to cooperate effectively with peers. • Familiarity with UNHCR services and processes. • Financial management experience. • Significant work or life experience in an instable security environment- Middle East and Egypt an asset. The successful candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to advocating for marginalized populations, and the ability to work well under pressure and within a multi-cultural team. The position requires flexibility, good communication skills, and a positive attitude.
