Cairo newspaper Esh-Shoura stated to Lord Balfour: “Whatfor have you come to my country? Have you come to see the misfortune and misery that have befallen my countrymen through you? Have you come to witness the process of extinction amongst the natives of Palestine which is the hand work your ominous declaration? Have you come to ascertain whether the destruction of my country has been completed? Have you come to hurry my country’s disaster which is an inevitable issue to your promise? Have you come to enjoy the sight of “Rome in Flames”? I would have your Lordship know that you have become the impersonification (sic) of injustice, the black spectre, the everlasting symbol of misfortune in Palestine. “
