Calgary’s largest company by market capitalization said it will also cut its operating expenses by $600 million to $800 million per year over the next two years. Spokeswoman Sneh Seetal said the job reductions will be felt throughout Suncor’s operations in Calgary, Fort McMurray, Eastern Canada and in the United States but cuts may be deeper in certain areas, such as with staff associated with the MacKay River 2 thermal oil project and the White Rose extension off the East Coast, both unsanctioned projects which are being deferred.
