Called to a medical evacuation of a large male fisherman who had slipped and dislocated his ankle. The location was at Watch House beach Aberthaw about 2 miles to the nearest vehicular access point. The original plan was to carry the casualty for the 2 miles, so Llantwit Major Coastguard were called to assist us. Due to the distance, the size of the casualty and the terrain, Swansea Coastguard then called Air Sea Rescue, which on arrival was able to land on the beach. The casualty was the stretchered into the the helicopter and then taken to Blackweir, where #Penarthcoastguard made a secure the helicopter landing site. The casualty was then taken to UHW hospital by ambulance. Barry Coastguard then had to drive to the UHW to recover their stretcher. H.A.R.T was also in attended attendance at Watch House Beach.
