Cally Wilson, a former treasury analyst at Energex, told the Courier Mail that staff were asked to manipulate data in order to artificially boost revenue ... The Australian Energy Regulator sets a cap [based on input costs] on what the energy company is allowed to recover from households. Wilson said that she was asked to look for a debt interest rate that would make it appear that Energex’s costs were greater than they actually were. I get why this is reported as shock! horror! news; but the sad truth is, those of us who work in the energy industry know that this is just the was business is done. All energy distributors do it.
