Calm Returns To Kano As Sanusi Gets Staff Of Office! Abubakar Salihi, Nkem Osuagwu— June 11, 2014 Calm returned to Kano Yesterday as Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, CON, has been decorated with the traditional staff of office making him a fully crowned emir. It was yesterday morning the chairman of the group of four kingmakers, Alhaji Nabahani Ibrahim, Madakin Kano decorated Emir Sanusi with Dabo’s Crown (Malafar Dabo), Twin Arrows (Tagwayen Masu), Ostrich Plumage Shoes (Takalman Jimina), Knife that signifies supremacy of authority, Sword and Holy Quran and DalailulKhairat. In a similar development, almost all the emir’s aides present at the sitting of the new emir included Chief of Servants (Shamaki), Deputy Chief of Servant (Danrimi), Principal Personal Secretary (Sallama), Officer In-charge of Seats (Kilishi), Lead Officer (Babban Zagi) among others. Others are Palace drummers trumpeters, other palace entertainers, and Officer In -charge of Court of Horses (Maja Siddi), officer’s In -charge of Fan (Figinai). According to the tradition, having presented Sanusi Lamido Sanusi with all of these traditional items and surrounded with the palace aides have made him the 57th emir of Kano and 14th emir of Kano in Fulani-Sullubawa clan.The new Kano emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi who has been a host at Kano Government House, Naseer Guest House continued to receive dignitaries and traditional title holders who were at the house to pay homage. Also, among the emir’s sons who paid homage are: Mahmoud Ado Bayero, Dan Buram, District Head of Fagge and Ibrahim Ado Bayero, Dan Ruwata, District Head of Sumaila and Ahmad Ado Bayero, District Head of Kumbotso.The new emir received governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha and some traditional title holders. However, one of the junior sisters to late Emir Bayero, Hajiya Umma Bayero who was at Government House told the emir’s aides that they had already make a passage for the new emir to enter his grandfather’s house. She said the house was united for his emirate. Emir Sanusi’s appointment well deserved – Gov Nyako Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyaku has described the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new emir of Kano as well deserved. He said this when he paid a condolence visit to Gov. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Emir Sanusi over the death of Alhaji Ado Bayero and the appointment of the new emir at Government House, Kano on Monday. Nyako told the new emir that “God Almighty has destined that you are going to be the 14th emir of Fulani dynasty in the state” and prayed to Almighty Allah to prolong his reign so as to transform the state to match contemporary global challenges.While thanking the state governor for choosing Lamido Sanusi who has experience and was knowledgeable, Nyako prayed for Allah to grant the soul of Late Emir Ado Abdullahi Bayero Jannatul Firdaus. In his response, the new Emir Lamido Sanusi disclosed that there was a very long cordial relationship between the Kano and Adamawa emirates.
