Calngute: Oldest barberia of Goa.... Calangute has changed a lot for last thirty years..it has become no.1 tourist destination of India..land of opportunities for people from many states...sudden prosperity has turned new generation in to laid back attitude....except taxi,fishing,watersports ..transport others businesses are being taken over by outsiders...build few rooms behind the house ..give them on rent and relax ..this has become new attitude..shops are being given on hire...even many shacks are given on contract after winning the lottery. We are still lucky to see some hard core exceptions around. Mandrekar family of Calangute can boast of running oldest barberia of Goa.It has been running since 1925..un inturupted service for last 88 years. Grand children of founder Sadanand ..Rama and his brothers take pride in their trade & tradition. Being in the center of Cangute there were lot of temptation from leasers ..buyers...hireres but the brothers were firm.. Salute to Rama & his brothers for not bowing to the temptation..and keeping the Goan sporit alive.
