Came home and all the trees were gone in the lot next door, leaving this eerie light where it used to be dark forest...very strange and twilight (reminded me of how i imagined the town when reading the Tommyknockers). While staring slack jawed at the absent silvan landscape I used to know, I saw the intermittent twinkle of dozens of scattered lightning bugs. In my yard! For how excited I was, it could have been an impromptu Ben Folds concert, emceed by Seth MacFarlane. I sat stammering at them about how excited I was that they were there...like they could hear me...and like I had suddenly (without warning) won an Oscar (and with as much surprise as that would be in my real life as I have never done anything that would prompt that either). And to think not 27 hours earlier I was running around that same patch with a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and a vomiting canine. You need to be my neighbor and you just need to sit in the front yard and wait because something nuts always happens. For five minutes a day. Maybe you just want to set up a camera and skip to the good parts.
