Can Chantix cause seizures? Chantix is relatively new drug to help people quit smoking. The manufacturer and the healthcare professionals seem to be heavily promoting this product but it is not very effective. It is also prohibitively expensive. Most people in my practice who have tried Chantix have failed to quit smoking. As far as seizures are concerned, there are no reports that Chantix can cause seizures. Since is suppresses brain activity, I suspect it may not induce seizures. There is now an FDA warning label on the drug indicating that it many cause suicidal thoughts. So if you are depressed, manic or have some type of mental health disorder, you should avid this agent-as it may induce thoughts of killing yourself.
