The $ 12 million in savings is an unaccredited claim. DOE has grossly under estimated the cost and effects of using off-site Labs.. DOE admits that WSCF has been doing this work successfully for more than 20 years. The shipping industry handling future 50-70 thousand samples per year will be the same one you use to send packages. Thousands of radioactive samples will go to ‘offsite’ labs, shipped through our communities like teddy bears or car parts. To ask citizens to take any kind of risk is unacceptable. My Family’s safety comes before DOE’s senseless plans. Please tell DOE to fully fund WSCF and keep all samples at Hanford.
