Can Money Really Buy Happiness? Many parents, when asked what they want for their children, will answer for them to be happy. Many of us buy clothes, bags, watches, phones, cameras, toys, make-up, and even cars, houses, etc. because we think they will make us happy. Students enroll in popular courses because we think the high-paying jobs we can get upon graduation will make us happy. Will they really? What does the science tell us? Diploma in Human Resource Management with Psychology - R52 students were encouraged to attend this talk by Prof Haidt yesterday. Why? We think HR practitioners with an understanding of human psychology are able to create workplaces where: (1) employees can form strong relationships of trust and love with their colleagues; (2) staff are able to engage with work that allow them to use their strengths; and (3) they have a sense of purpose and connection to something larger than themselves, which are the key to growing flourishing organisations, with engaged happy employees.
