Can Obamacare be saved with a “tech surge?”… When Afghanistan seemed to be slipping away, we launched a troop surge to turn it around. So President Omama is trying a “tech surge,” calling on his tech billionaire pals to convert the Model T health insurance website into a Ferrari. That seems like an unwittingly admission that private enterprise does things more efficiently than government. But even if the website is fixed, it won’t fix Obamacare, because it’s based on faulty economic assumptions. Such as, young people will pay $1500 a year for high-deductible insurance they think they don’t need, rather than pay a $95 penalty. Some think Obamacare was designed to fail, so it could be replaced with single-payer socialized medicine. But the GOP House would never pass that. No, this really is the best progressives could come up with. Its woes are due to incompetence, not a brilliant scheme. No wonder we’re trying a surge to fix it. More and more, it’s looking like the Afghanistan of health care programs.
