Can we stop pretending that there are two sides to every argument and that its worth engaging and listening to both of those sides/finding a common ground from which civil discussion can arise? Forget the handwringing and everyone is worth listening to: some people are wrong, their opinions are actively harmful, and they dont deserve to be given the time of day, let alone a venue in which to spew forth their toxic ideas whilst pretending to be interested in open discourse. Im not going to engage in a debate with anyone that is openly racist or misogynist. Its not worth my goddam time. Telling me that Im close-minded for saying, Youre wrong and I refuse to listen to you to someone who thinks I am less of a human being because of my gender or the color of my skin only serves to show what an idiot you are.
