Canada To Audit Australia’s Safety Bureau The Transportation - TopicsExpress

Canada To Audit Australia’s Safety Bureau The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will conduct an independent external review of the investigation processes used by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and publish a report of the results. The review, to begin with an initial visit by the TSB team this month, is intended to provide an independent and objective assessment of the ATSB’s investigation methodology and processes. The ATSB’s final report on the November 2009 accident involving a Pel-Air Westwind generated some controversy. The Canadian review team will compare TSB investigation methodologies with the ATSB’s against a backdrop of international investigation standards. The review will also examine how Australian methodologies and processes have been applied to ATSB investigations and compare them with TSB approaches. The review is expected to identify best practices from both organizations to improve how both investigate accidents and occurrences and improve transport safety. The TSB expects to issue its report by next spring and publish it on its website. ainonline/aviation-news/ainsafety/2013-08-12/canada-audit-australias-safety-bureau
