Cant forget the image of Angelina Jolie walking out onto the stage of the Academy Awards with Sidney Poitier, for the The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Those small, measured steps to accomodate his more frail and concerted effort. A warm smile, eyes straight ahead, and all the patience and dignity necessary and deserved. And what was impressive about Mr. Poitier was not how little he had changed or aged, but how much and how naturally. Arm in arm, a great beauty and a great beauty-each emanating what it is to be lovely at such disparate ends of the spectrum of life. Some beauty contains an aura of grace and certain grace calls forth beauty. A lovely image of beauty present in both-and representing not youth, but dignity. A human and humane moment, to be certain. Beauty is as beauty does and nothing is as lasting or enduring as the beauty that comes from a conscious life in which service and reaching out beyond ones self is a value not only held but demonstrated and lived.
