Cant stop thinking about my friends at Ft Hood. It was quite a haunting place after the shooting in 2009. To come back from a war zone and feel safe only to have that feeling shattered by violence. I know my brothers and sisters in arms and their families will persevere and make it through this by sticking together and becoming closer to their battle buddies. Forging friendships and plans that will keep each other safe and talking about it as a way of coping and dealing with it. Hopefully the leadership uses this tragedy and creates a plan that will make a base in America safer than a FOB overseas. Having had armed soldiers express the intent to commit violence on me; I know the amount of strain and pressure these warriors have been under through repeated deployments. Hopefully theres a solution that involves easier access to counseling without fear of being seen as weak and swithout reprisals or it being a career ending decision to seek help. My heart goes out to the families of those killed and wounded, and Im glad that all my friends and their families are safe. Ill see yall next week. You made it through another emotionally significant event, youre lucky and blessed. Be happy that youre alive.
