Captain Darryl Cheney was a master mariner and fish broker from Grand Manan. Cheney built the house before he married Gertrude Trask of Little River in 1910. Unfortunately young Gertrude only lived here for nine years and died in 1919 at the age of 27. Gertrude and Darryl had three girls. Darryl remarried Alta Cossaboom from Parrsborro and they had two girls. Mr. Cheney was widely known throughout this end of the province and southern New Brunswick shipping ports. Architecture Rare style for Little River. Original windows in the tower. The peaked tower, fan windows, and the circular balcony that cover the entire frontage of this house make it a landmark property in Little River. Contextual Comment On the west side of Little River Road. In front of Baptist cemetery up on the hill.
