Capturing whales and dolphins for live display and export is - TopicsExpress

Capturing whales and dolphins for live display and export is absolutely NOT a Japanese tradition. To make such claims (unfairly) insults the Japanese people as a whole. Clearly anyone with common sense knows that the tank technology necessary for keeping such animals in captivity has only been available for a few decades. This is not a Japan versus the rest of the world issue. This is about 26 fisherman and their allies versus the rest of us including many equally horrified ordinary Japanese people. Its a lucrative industry. It seems live display cetaceans are far more valuable than dolphin or whale meat. While people pay to see dolphin and whale shows this will continue. Make a decision now to never spend any of your own money in any way that will benefit this industry directly or indirectly..... if you pay for it youre part of it! Lobby your governments and their agents; ask them not to approve related import and/or export permits nor planning permissions for marine theme parks. Help make it impossible for those involved in this industry to make money. Raising awareness is key. Its not that others dont care; it is just that many are oblivious to what actually goes on behind the scenes and/or what dolphins and whales endure prior to going on display....and remember that includes the average Japanese person.
