Carlo Ancelotti is still figuring out where best to deploy James Rodríguez. The Colombians versatility is a huge asset and the Italian coach is making the most of it to try out the star in a variety of positions.Against Fiorentina, Ancelotti pushed James further forward. Having lined up alongside Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in midfield in Cardiff, in Warsaw the ex-Monaco and Porto schemer partnered Cristiano Ronaldo and Ángel di María up top, playing as a false nine. Rather than operating as a target man like Karim Benzema, he constantly peeled off from the frontline to pick up the ball, roaming around and then popping up in the box to get shots away.This was a big hint at how Ancelotti could set up shop when Benzema is unavailable. James can slot into the Frenchmans position seamlessly, albeit in a freer role. He undoubtedly feels most comfortable in an attacking position and will enjoy the chance to play there every time one of the BBC is missing.It looks likely that the Colombian World Cup sensation will only feature in midfield when Ancelotti needs to inject some extra creativity or attacking intent. Like Isco, James has the potential to be a game- changer from the middle of the park.
