Carta da ABPMC enviada à ABA International reafirmando a parceria entre as duas associações em prol dos analistas do comportamento: July 10, 2014 President Dr. Linda J. Parrot Hayes, President-elect Dr. Maria Martha Hübner, Past President Dr. Michael Perone, Chief Executive Officer Dr. Maria E. Malott, Subject: ABA of Brazil Annual Report Dear Linda, Martha, Michael and Maria, Thank you for ABAI’s feedback about our 2014 Chapter’s Annual Report. ABPMC – Associação Brasileira de Psicologia e Medicina Comportamental (Brazilian Association of Behavioral Psychology and Medicine) will promote the events of ABA at our next Annual Meeting. In addition, we reasserts our partnership in promoting Behavior Analysis and also takes the opportunity to communicate you that soon we will be implementing a Behavior Analyst Accreditation process in Brazil. We consider relevant to communicate ABAI of this decision because we believe that such measure will collaborate with our common purpose of strengthening the social recognition of the behavior analyst and certainly will protect the professional or researcher’s quality who uses such a title. The Accreditation Committee was assembled with names put forward directly by our associates through ordinary assembly and has the goal to draft a behavior analyst accreditation proposal. The regulation of this process is being finalized and with be presented to our community to be discussed and voted in our next Annual Meeting, the XXIII Brazilian Meeting of Behavioral Psychology and Medicine, which will occur during September 24 to 27 of 2014, in Fortaleza, Ceará. As a society that represents Behavior Analysis in Brazil in the past 23 years, and as a representation of ABAI in Brazil, ABPMC views the election of a Brazilian professor and researcher, a former president and active member of ABPMC, Dr. Maria Martha Hübner, for the ABAI’s presidency with a lot of optimism. Besides a recognition of the importance of the work conducted by Brazilian behavior analysts, we believe that this is an excellent opportunity for us to strengthen ties that were bonded years ago between these sister entities. We put ourselves available to contribute to ABAI in whatever is needed to spread and strengthen Behavior Analysis in our country and for the exchange of knowledge production and communication. We would like to ask, if possible, that this message be transmitted to all your associates and lamenting the impossibility of Dr. Martha attend our Annual Meeting, we would like to invite ABAI to send a delegate in order to keep track of the activities of this event. This could straighten even more the relationship between ABPMC and ABAI in present and future projects. Sincerely, João ilo Coelho Barbosa ABPMC President
