After consulting with my vet this afternoon, both boys are on Amoxicillin 500 mg and Tussigon 5mg twice a day for 10 days. Both need to gain significant weight before starting any heartworm treatment. They will continue to get doxi during this time and the dewormer that was sent. They are now on a feeding schedule approved by the vet - small amounts several times a day. They are great dogs, didnt even mind when I gave them their meds tonight. The stall floor is rubber matted with pine shavings on top with their blankets. I have a fan going at stall front and the bigger floor fans going for air circulation. The aisle lights will remain on at night so they are not totally in the dark. Once they are over their colds, I will bring them into the house - I just cannot risk having the other dogs here catch their colds.
