Jesus embodies both these aspects of love in todays Gospel. He has compassion for the people who were like sheep without a shepherd and he becomes a shepherds for them as God was a shepherd for the Israelites. The words such as shepherds greenery, wilderness, and the sense of satisfaction with the food remind us of the famous Psalm 23: The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.
