Caught a blurb by TJ Oord on Biblical Open Theology page on J Wesley inadvertently sounding like an open theist; that piqued my interest because I firmly believe that the Wesleys have been misrepresented from the time of their deaths to keep a movement going. here are a couple little known passages from both John and Chas. nailed to the cross where Jesus bled, united with His sacrifice, not instantaneously struck dead a lingering death our nature dies. The death my Savior bore for me exerts its mortifying power, till nature, gasping on the tree, is quite extinct, and stirs no more. Whether by slow or swift degrees, the selfish and the proud desire, the Adam old shall surely cease, and the last breath of sin expire. My actions, words, and thoughts impure, sins members, all destroyed shall be, and then of full salvation sure, I dwell in Christ, and Christ in me. J Wesley Then by Charles actually writing against Calvins doctrine of imputed sin: The righteous God consigned them over to their doom; then sent the Savior of mankind to damn them from the womb! To damn for falling short of what they could not do! for not believing the report of that which was not true! Good God! that any child of Thine so horribly should think of thee! Lo, all my hopes I here resign if all may not find grace with me. (punctuation in original) C Wesley
