Cece Hines Birthday is today, Cece grew up down the road from us and lives in Florida now, is an artist working with paints. We get to see a lot of her work posted here and it is like a trip without leaving home. I think Cece gets some of her painting abilities from here father, Steve, who retired as a Zone Sgt with the NY State Police. Well, Steve worked on clapboards, logs, and gun stocks and not paper as Cece does. Steve built the family log cabin style home and barn at the foot of the hill on Hoffman Road, Off of Powell Road in Holland Patent NY. Steve was painting the newly built barn that served as a garage, storage and two stall for their horse, Gus, and a donkey that they had. Gus was for the youngest son Joe, and the donkey they said was Ceces. When asked what Cece was doing they would say the last time they saw her she was out in the yard setting on her a$$. About this time of year Steve was painting, the newly built barn when a car pulled in, a man got out, walked by Steve and rapped on the house door. Jinny, the mom, answered the door and the fellow introduced himself and proceeded to tell her why she should vote for him for Justice of the Peace in the upcoming election. If one wanted to get elected to the local judiciary one should at the very least get to know the key players in the local police departments. When the man was done he handed her his card with his picture on it and a reminder to vote for him. He left, again walking past Steve, with no acknowledgement that he was even there. Jinny brought the card out and told Steve what the man was there for. Steve stopped painting long enough to nail the card in front of the donkeys stall commenting that, There now one jackass can now look at another jackass! That card was still there many years later. Happy birthday Cece!
