Biography of the artist Cees Bouman: (Biografie van Kunstenaar Cees Bouman.) This is the story of my life ... I was born in The Hague (Netherlands): 15-12-1947. At the age of 14 I started working. From my first salary, I bought a professional paintbox - My first work of art was a landscape. One day: the company I worked for went bankrupt. What should I do? I had worked and worked for years, but my heart was not in it. For me there was no future in that job because of my hands (wear caused by work). Studying was not an option: I am dyslexic. I became a volunteer in the disability care - multiple disabilities. Over time turned out to be what I always knew: Art has my preference. I knew what I wanted to do: creating Works of Art. I decided to work for myself - independent - on my own. Once engaged I discovered the pleasure, the attractiveness of working with a palette knife. Through my palette knife technique, I create a rugged rough structure into my paintings. I bring quite clear distinct coats of paint on, for designing refined details. It gives a three dimensional effect. Moving my work to a location, with another lighting, yields a different color palette on. Working with a palette knife gives me the passion and energy to create a painting. A painting that touches people. That draws attention! I got myself more and more specialized. It has been a success. Now, in order not to get stuck in my progress, I develop myself in other techniques and materials: - Drawing of portraits with ink in 5 to 15 minutes - Painting of abstract and cubist works - Etc. My interest is in the things around me, such as children or cityscapes. I want to keep my work recognizable to people. For me, a painting does not have to be beautiful. It concerns me mainly at capturing mood and emotion. That is my biggest motivation. Biografie van Kunstenaar Cees Bouman Ik ben op een leeftijd van 14 jaar begonnen met werken. Door o.a. mijn dyslexie heb ik verder niet de mogelijkheid gehad om door te studeren. Van mijn eerste salaris heb ik een professionele schildersdoos gekocht. Mijn eerste kunstwerk was een landschap. Ik heb voor een groot deel van mijn loopbaan werk gedaan waar niet op de eerste plaats mijn hart lag, want vanaf jonge leeftijd wist ik wat ik wilde, namelijk het maken van kunstwerken. Het bedrijf waar ik werkzaam was, ging failliet en daarbij werd ik ook afgekeurd vanwege mijn handen. Ik besloot vrijwilligerswerk te gaan doen in de zorg, maar na verloop van tijd bleek dat de kunst mij bleef trekken en ik besloot dan ook voor mijzelf te gaan werken. Eenmaal bezig ontdekte ik dat het werken met een paletmes mij geweldig goed lag en ik heb mijzelf verder in deze techniek ontwikkeld en met succes. Het werken met paletmes geeft mij passie en energie om schilderijen te maken die mensen raken. Door mijn paletmestechniek creëer ik reliëf in mijn schilderijen. Ik breng heel duidelijk lagen verf op elkaar aan. Dit geeft een driedimensionaal effect. Als je het doek verplaatst naar een ruimte met een andere lichtinval, levert dat een heel ander kleurenpalet op. Om niet stil te blijven staan, blijf ik mijzelf ontwikkelen met andere technieken en materialen. Zo teken ik met inkt portretten in 5 tot 15 minuten. Ook schilder ik abstract en kubistisch werk. Mijn werk wil ik herkenbaar houden voor de mensen en mijn interesse gaat dan ook uit naar de dingen die om mij heen zijn zoals kinderen of stadsgezichten. Voor mij hoeft een schilderij niet mooi te zijn, maar het gaat bij mij vooral om het vastleggen van sfeer en emotie, dat is mijn grootste motivatie.
