Celebrate the Season! I am always intrigued each year by the stories on TV about the compilation of events that occurred over the previous year. Consider these from 2014: (Obamacare implementation fiasco, the rise of ISIS, domestic violence in pro sports, the disappearance of a jumbo jetliner, suicide of Robin Williams, and the outbreak of Ebola.) Just a few weeks ago my business advisor, great friend, and confidant passed away much too young leaving many of us deeply saddened and frustrated. It often times makes me wonder, ‘what will happen this year that will be completely unexpected?’ In similar fashion, I wonder what Mary was thinking as she carried the baby Savior for nine long months. The song ‘Mary Did You Know’ asks these great questions... Mary, did you know that your baby boy would someday walk on water? That your baby boy would save our sons and daughters? Did you know that your baby boy would give sight to a blind man, that your baby boy would calm a storm with his hand? Mary did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? And when you kiss your little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God?! Think about that for a moment…can you imagine kissing the face of God? I’m not sure whether Mary or anyone else could grasp the enormity of what was to come in the months and years ahead after Jesus’ birth. And so it is with 2015. We don’t know what joy or sorrow the year will bring. So our wish for you this year is to contemplate the reason for your joy, your hope for the future, and your confidence in eternity. And may your joys, happiness, opportunities, and good fortune be exceeded only by an extra abundance of good health throughout the year. May this Christmas be the happiest and most fulfilling ever!
