Center of the Universe in Cambodia: Construction of Angkor City began in 802 AD and it became one of the most magnificent cities in Southeast Asian history. Angkor Wat, the best preserved temple in Angkor is a spectacular work of art and architecture. Its a stone representation of the universe from Hindu beliefs. Its five towers correspond to the peaks of Mt. Meru which housed the Hindu gods. The center tower is believed to be the center of the universe. The outer walls and moat represent the mountains and oceans at the edge of the world. I am so fortunate to be able to say, I have stood at the center of the universe...and it was breathtaking!
