Certificate II being offered by CWLL Central West Lachlan Landcare is offering local residents in Parkes and Forbes to take part in a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management in a joint project between Central West Lachlan Landcare and Western Tafe, Orange campus. The project has received funding from the Lachlan Catchment Managment Authority as part of the current Seed Collection project that Central West Lachlan Landcare is taking part in with the aim of training local residents in the skills necessary to develop a long term seed collection and propagation system which could potentially provide local residents with access to native tube-stock from locally sourced species. Project Officer Christie Elemam said ‘This is a great course for anyone who has an interest in learning more about their local environment and being able to contribute to improving not only their own place but the wider community. This course is about giving local residents of all ages and backgrounds the opportunity to come together, learn new skills and connect with their local environment’. This is a free course being provided to local community members with enrolment fees being covered by Central West Lachlan Landcare’s Seed Collection project. Registration for this project closes on Thursday 22 August with interested participants encouraged to contact Project Officer Christie Elemam on 6862 4914 or by email to cwllpo@hotmail.
