Challenge accepted Emilia Stubbs Grigoriou! Im going to stick to books, not plays, otherwise its way too complicated for me - here are my top ten, in no particular order: the books that have stayed with me. 1. Catch 22 by Joseph Heller (because its hilarious and ingenious and we each have a share) 2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (a book so preposterously magnificent that it works on several levels, and provides the perfect example of more than one genre) 3. 1984 by George Orwell (best opening line of a novel ever - you had me at 13) 4. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck (the ending left me heartbroken and speechless) 5. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (need I say more?) 6. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (those Russians do have a way with English) 7. Donald Bradman and the Lotteries That Everyone Won by Jade Maitre (an unpublished masterpiece, a novel which defines the form better than any other I can think of) 8. A Short Death by Jade Maitre (the worlds first book to be released on social networking, I hope to see this darkly funny and incisive slice of humanity on bookshelves soon!) 9. The Witches by Roald Dahl (because I agree, we should never let the child within us die, even if that child is a mouse) 10. Around The World in 80 Days by Jules Verne (because we should never let the bemonocled adventurer within us die either)
