Chamber Announces 45th Fountain Fall Festival Theme will be 45 Years of Memories The Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that plans are underway for the 45th Fountain Fall Festival. This year the theme is: “45 YEARS OF MEMORIES.” The weekend will begin with the 5K Race for the Fallen on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Fountain-Ft. Carson High School, 900 Jimmy Camp Road at 8 a.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014, the Fountain Fire Department will hold their BBQ Dinner from 5-7 p.m. at Fire Station 1, 811 N. Santa Fe Avenue. Dancing and entertainment will follow the dinner. Monday morning, September 1, will begin with the Fountain-Ft. Carson JROTC’s Pancake Breakfast at Fountain-Ft. Carson Middle School, 515 N. Santa Fe Avenue from 7-9:30 a.m. Following the JROTC Pancake Breakfast, the parade will begin to march at 10 am, beginning at Lyckman Drive and Santa Fe Avenue, then down Santa Fe Avenue to Ohio Street before turning east to Walnut Street. After the parade, festivities will begin at Metcalfe Park with many food, craft and information booths to explore. There will also be a Kid Zone for the younger children to play, and romp in. “Sugar Bear and the Showtime Band” will entertain from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kay Larson Pavilion. The Rocky Mountain Tractor Pullers will hold contests on Sunday, August 31st, and Monday, September 1 in the southwest corner of Metcalf Park. The City of Fountain will provide shuttle buses again this year. The shuttles will run from the Fountain-Ft. Carson Middle School and from City Hall to Metcalfe Park. Their schedule will be every 20 minutes. Nominations are being taken for this year’s Grand Marshal. More information on the activities will follow in the newspaper and on the FVCC website each month as we approach the holiday festival.
