Chamber Post in Partnership with the Long Hill Police Department: (LONG HILL TOWNSHIP, NJ) The following release is for all related police activity during the week of November 1, 2014 to November 7, 2014. Police News Bulletin – Chief Michael Mazzeo November 1, 2014 ARRESTED- Police investigated the theft from a residence and subsequently arrested Benjamin Lugg, 19 years of age from Millington. Lugg was charged with theft and obstruction administration of law. Lugg was processed and released, with a pending court date. November 2, 2014 A Millington resident contacted police to report a theft of $200 from a purse at a Gillette business. Upon further police investigation, police were able to identify Rebecca Borman, 22 years of age from New Providence, as the person who committed the theft. Borman was subsequently charged with theft and given a court date. November 3, 2014 A Gillette resident contacted police to report that someone had obtained access to the resident’s checking account and ordered new checks, which were sent to someone other than the resident. Police are continuing their investigation. Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 5:55 p.m. on Valley Road. Robert Marsden, 77 years of age from Berkeley Heights was traveling west on Valley Road when a deer ran into the side of his vehicle, causing damage. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported and no summonses were issued. November 4, 2014 Police investigated a hit and run motor vehicle crash at about 9:46 a.m. on Springbrook Drive. Police determined that someone had backed into the mailbox of 133 Springbrook Drive and fled the area. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported, but the police are continuing their investigation. November 5, 2014 Police investigated a motor vehicle crash at about 2:14 p.m. on Long Hill Road. Karen Leski, 53 years of age from Millington was traveling north on Long Hill Road when a vehicle driven by Toshiko Shawkobayashi was traveling east on Long Hill Road. As Leski drove north towards Old Forge Road, Shawkobayash failed to yield and struck Leski’s vehicle. As a result of the crash no injuries were reported and no summonses were issued. Police and firefighters responded to no fire related emergency call during the week. Police and the first aid squad responded to 10 medical calls during the week. The Long Hill Township Police Department continues the investigation of the disappearance of Millington resident, David Bird, who was last seen on January 11, 2014. A $10,000 reward has been offered by his employer, Dow Jones & Co. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the LHTPD at 908-647-1800.
