Charges Laid in Assault Investigation We have charged two people in connection with an assault on a local senior. Just after 8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, the victim was walking in the 1700 block of 24 Street S.W., when he got into a verbal argument with two cyclists. The incident quickly escalated and the cyclists – a man and a woman – began to assault the 66-year-old victim. The victim sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. On Tuesday, July 8, 2014, police charged two people in connection with the incident. Benjamin Reese-Taylor and Shawna Conley, both 18, are each charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. The Service would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance with this investigation.
