Charlene sent me this today from Motorsports Marketing Resources Newsletter - an article about Selden A Car Guy Passes A retired car salesman and grandfather was killed Tuesday morning in a small plane crash in the Bahamas read Tuesdays Boston Globe. Sad news indeed. There was so much more to Selden Loring than being a retired car salesman and grandfather. He sold and owned high end cars and like only the best sales people, he had a loyal following. Early in his career he was the Sales Manager for Auto Engineering, a pioneer dealership for Mercedes, BMW and other exotics of the time. Whenever we spoke, which was far less frequently than I would have liked in recent years, he was still an active player in the vintage and high end car game. His little company, International Automobile Consultants Inc., was helping people buy and sell vintage cars and memorabilia and allowing him to travel to Pebble Beach every year and be a part of the scene. The New England motorsports community lost a good friend and a thousand great car stories in a single plane crash. The photo, below, is of Selden alighting from a Bugatti Veyron he was test driving at Pebble beach in 2006.
