Charlotte Works is Hiring A Communications Manager This full-time team member will work directly with the director of communications to support and execute elements of the organization’s internal and external strategic communications plans. This person must be an organized, detail-oriented, deadline-driven, flexible multi-tasker. Duties: • Work with the Talent Engagement team to develop and manage ongoing communications to clients using a variety of channels that promote onsite workshops and resources to drive traffic to Charlotte Works’ locations. • Write, edit, design and distribute weekly internal/staff newsletter. • Develop up to three weekly “You News” presentations for networked lobby televisions to promote workshops, onsite visitors, volunteers, landed clients, etc. Maintain presentation archives. • Create, maintain and continuously update print library of landed clients, employers, case studies, etc. • Create, maintain and update video library of landed clients and employers, organization events, etc. • Create, maintain and update photo library of landed and in-process clients and employers, organizations events, board members, etc. • Create, maintain and regularly update library of bios for leadership, coaching and training coordinator teams for use in media outreach and community engagements. • Write articles as assigned for monthly external newsletter. • Develop promotional materials to support Charlotte Works’ SNAP sites and ensure continuous communications to SNAP site managers about Charlotte Works’ activities. • Research, recommend, establish and maintain Charlotte Works’ active presence on appropriate social media channels. May include the same duties for Youth Works. • Manage inventory, ordering and distribution of Charlotte Works-branded items (e.g., shirts, notebooks, pens, etc.) • Manage collection, cataloging and archiving of organization’s historical information. • Develop and work with talent engagement manager/event coordinator to distribute a volunteer workshop instructor/coach photo/video policy. • Provide additional marketing/communications/promotional support to volunteer program as needed. • Assist with research, writing as needed. • Serve as back-up to director of communications. • Other duties as assigned. Reporting structure: 1 Reports directly to the director of communications. No direct reports (although may occasionally supervise a volunteer or intern). Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in public relations, communications or journalism. Minimum three to five years of public relations, corporate or nonprofit communications, marketing, social media and/or community relations experience and/or training. Requirements: • 3 – 5+ years public relations, corporate or nonprofit communications, marketing, social media and/or community relations experience • Demonstrated experience creating dynamic PowerPoint presentations and videos • Demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills • Proven experience with/knowledge of social media to establish and increase brand awareness and stakeholder engagement • Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge, Skills & Other Abilities: • Organized • Pays close attention to detail • Creative • Proven history of project/task management and execution with minimal oversight • Must not fear asking questions • Respects and adheres to deadlines • Team player • Flexible • Some design knowledge/experience • Commitment to serve Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
