Escape From a Nazi Death CampAirs: May 20 at 9:00 PT/9:00 ET During WW II the Nazis created the Sobibor death camp whose only purpose was to put to death its inmates. A few hundred inmates were allowed to live (for a while) to work the camp and in 1943 they decided to mount a mass escape by first killing key Nazi officers and then, hoping that the remaining Nazis would be too disorganized to stop them, storm the main gate of the camp. While the plan worked, many of those who escaped were subsequently re-captured or killed.
