Chelsea will try and sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema if Manchester United refuse to sell Wayne Rooney. Blues boss Jose Mourinho is very keen on signing Rooney; however, both the club and manager have stated on many occasions that the “Golden Boy” is not for sale and for that the Portuguese might go for Plan B, and that’s signing Benzema. The France international striker blossomed under Mourinho at Real Madrid after a shaky start a season prior with Manuel Pellegrini and the ‘Special One’ would love to bring him to the Bridge to boost his attacking options ahead of the new season. Benzema had a rough season with Real Madrid last term, bagging just 21 goals compared to his excellent 32 goal record in the 2011/2012 campaign. So far, Mourinho has signed Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and veteran back-up to Petr Cech Mark Schwarzer but Mou is in line for more purchases as he eyes to mount a serious challenge in the Barclays Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. Carlo Ancelotti is a fan of Benzema and will not sell the striker but if he does than that will be in order to raise funds to bring a top striker - Sabbir Hussain
