Cheng Qi (ST-1) ST = Stomach (On centerline of pupil, between eyeball and infraorbital ridge.) For digesting emotional experience, the release of grief, emotional indigestion. The role of the stomach is to integrate, when emotional material is not digested (as might be required when grieving a traumatic loss), it can make one feel weighed down, unable to move or go on. For depressed stomach function, it helps emotionally and physiologically; opens bile duct – improves digestion. Brightens the eyes; expels wind; stops lacrimation. All eye disorders: eye pain, redness and swelling; conjunctivitis; excessive tearing due to wind; myopia; night blindness; twitching of eyelids, spasms of the facial nerve; spasms of all the muscles of the face and of the corner of the mouth and eye; facial paralysis. ---------------- Si Bai (ST-2) (In infraorbital foramen, directly below ST-1) Useful connections to the liver and gallbladder, effects vision. Brightens the eyes; expels wind; clears the nose. Eye problems: eye redness, soreness, itching; continuous tears; conjunctivitis; pain of the eyeball; cataracts; keratitis; glaucoma; eye tics, twitching; color blindness; protruding eyes (hyperthyroidism). Sinus problems, sinus headache; rhinitis, sinusitis; allergic facial swelling. Headache; dizziness. Trigeminal neuralgia; facial pain and/or paralysis. Can be used as a substitute for ST-1; although not as effective as ST-1 for eye problems there is less risk of burst blood vessels, and many patients have trouble with the idea of having a “needle in their eye”. ---------------- Ju Liao (ST-3) (Level w/lower border ala nasi, lateral side of nasolabial groove, directly below pupil line) Eliminates wind and invigorates circulation; Disperses swelling and relieves pain. Painful or swollen face; facial paralysis; trigeminal neuralgia. Nasal disorders; acute or chronic coryza; maxillary sinusitis; abscess of the nose; epistaxis. Eye tics, twitching; myopia; cataracts. Toothache. Rhinitis. ---------------- Di Cang (ST-4) (Lateral from the corner of mouth, on pupil line) For eating disorders; distress about nourishment, not having enough. Knowing that what we need is available to us, we can be satisfied. Removes obstructions from the channel; Frees qi stagnation. Facial paralysis; deviation of the mouth, inability to close mouth; tongue paralysis, loss of voice, inability to eat; swollen cheek; trigeminal neuralgia; hypersalivation; eyelid spasm, inability to close the eyes; cold sores on the lips; toothache. ---------------- Da Ying (ST-5) (Anterior edge of masseter on jaw, (groove-like depression appears when cheek bulges) Someone who is closed off; easing jaw tension. Clenched jaws, TMJ; wry mouth, stiff tongue, inability to chew; cheek pain and toothache; dislocation of jaw. Local point for facial problems; trismus, facial pain; eye pain.
