Chew and I were talking, the other day... I mentioned that there were two kinds of sports fans, in the world. Each are truly dedicated and supportive of their team, but one seems a little more fortunate than the other. He asked what I meant. Lets take football, I said. There are people who are diehard fans of a certain team, or player. They might have their whole house decorated in honor of their favorite NFL or college team. They never miss a game, even if they have to take off work or travel long distances. Nobody could say that they arent true fans. And? Chew asked. And thats great... but think about those fans that are crazy about the SPORT, not just the team or series... the folks that go to high school games, when they dont even have kids at that school... or stop by the park to cheer on the Mini Midget kids. They are big fans, too... but think how much more it means to them, when a new recruit joins the College or NFL ranks that the other fans are following... to be able to say, I remember when... Thats how I feel, watching these Young Guns, moving up. So... heres a shoutout to all the youngsters who entertain us, each week, by sliding on their steel shoes... and to the Moms and Dads who pay, pray, cut corners, and turn wrenches. You are a big part of the reason that folks like us are so fortunate to be your fans.
