Chhatrasena demands stopping violence Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Islami Chhatrasena on Friday demanded exemplary punishment of the killers of Nurul Islam Faruqi and asked the government to take immediate measures to end ongoing ‘violence unleashed by the opposition.’ The student organisation backed by pro-Awami League Bangladesh Islami Front made the demand at a rally in organised in front of the National Press Club marking the 35th founding anniversary of the organisation. Addressing the rally, Bangladesh Islami Front secretary general MA Matin urged the government to put an end to ‘militancy and atheism’ in the country. He demanded the exemplary punishment of the killers of Faruqi, a presenter of Islamic programmes in private television channels. Islami Chhatrasena Dhaka city unit president Maswood Hossain called on the government to take immediate actions to stop ‘vandalism and anarchy unleashed by the opposition political parties.’ ‘If the government fails to contain the countrywide violence, we will be forced to take to the streets against the government,’ he said. Speaking as the chair, Chhatrasena president Nurul Haque Chishi said that the organisation would lay siege to the Prime Minister’s Office on March 28 demanding the punishment of the killers of Nurul Islam Faruqi. Bangladesh Juba Sena central president MA Momen, Bangladesh Islami Front organising secretary Masud Hossain Al Qadri and Islami Chhatrasena organising secretary Syed Golam Kibria, among others, addressed teh rally.
