Chicago Bulls player Michael Dunleavy visited La Rabida this week to meet patients, sign autographs, pass out t-shirts and pose for photos. At 69, Dunleavy barely cleared La Rabida’s hallways and doorframes as he and Senior Manager of Community Relations Jeff Schultz moved from the Outpatient Center to the inpatient unit to the rehab gym. A photographer and video crew tagged along to capture Dunleavy’s time with patients, who were thrilled by the attention. “I think this one’s going home with me!” said Dunleavy while holding toddler Jason. “He’s a great Bulls fan.” Once aboard the S.S. La Rabida, Dunleavy met with several inpatients, including two-year-old Ayden, who danced for everyone, posed for pictures and showed off his stuffed animals and reading skills. “He’s so adorable!” said Dunleavy while watching Ayden dance to Pharrell’s hit “Happy.” Many thanks to the Bulls for the holiday visit!
