Chicago Bulls pursuing a possible Big 6. Unlikely to happen but something they maybe trying: Yes thats right. Not 2, Not 3, Not 4, Not 5, 6! A Big 6 featuring around Derrick Rose, Taj Gibson, Joakim Noah and 2 new additions, Pau Gasol and Carmelo Anthony to go along Jimmy Butler who most of us agree should be included if Taj Gibson is being included. A Big 6 will be difficult to do but not impossible and this is something that the Chicago Bulls most likely have or will try to explore. Chicago Bulls Sun Time writer Joe Cowley reported yesterday: They’re headed to Los Angeles for a meeting with Lakers free-agent big man Pau Gasol, not only as an alternate plan if Anthony re-signs with the Knicks — the only team Bulls officials think is a threat in the sweepstakes — but also to sell Gasol on the idea that they can fit him under the salary cap with Anthony, but they’d have to get creative. Now Joe Cowley is applying that the Chicago Bulls under no circumstances can find a taker for Carlos Boozer but what if you find a team that maybe willing to do this if say we include Kings Future 1st Rd Pick, Bulls 2015 1st Rd Pick, Bulls 2017 1st Rd Picks, and the rights to Nikola Mirotic. Youd probably say, thats a bit too much to give up just to dump Carlos Boozer and youre exactly right. There are 15 teams with cap space to absorb enough cap space to make a deal like this work and all it takes is one. Clearing Carlos Boozer to a 3rd team then opens the door to a possible 3 way sign-and-trade involving Carmelo Anthony which is what the Chicago Bulls are still hoping will happen in the end. If they are able to complete a trade for Carmelo Anthony, the Chicago Bulls would then still have the $5.3m Mid Level Exception and $2.0m Bi Annual Exception remaining. Reports today indicates that Pau Gasol maybe willing to accept the $5.3m Mid Level Exception. As you can see, the odds of all of this happening are slim but not impossible. A Big 6 is something the Chicago Bulls maybe thinking and why they all of a sudden urgently flew to LA with Joakim Noah also reportedly in LA to speak with Pau Gasol.
