Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif a few moments ago chaired a meeting on gas/electricity theft and was presented with progress on this issue. It was reported to the Chief Minister that gas theft worth 581 million rupees annually has been detected in 5 cities of Punjab and appropriate action has been taken against those responsible. CM emphasized that only owners of business entities which are involved in gas/electricity theft must be arrested and no employee should be put behind bars unless there is very strong evidence against employees. The CM expressed his resolve to broaden the horizon of these operations and spread them to other cities of Punjab. Those involved in gas and electricity theft have not only caused a burden on the national exchequer but have done an unforgivable crime by adding to the miseries of the common man. FM
